Personality Awards

Wine Personality of the Year

Awarded to one person who has significantly contributed to the wine industry. Judges will be looking for exemplary leadership, business acumen and/or major deal breaking achievement.

Young Achiever Award

Under 35 years old the Judges will be looking for a rising star with ambition, drive and demonstrable achievements under their belt.

Brand Manager of the Year

Whether launching a new product, or overhauling an ailing brand, this man or woman will demonstrate best practice in brand management. An established marketeer with creative flair and unrivalled connection to their brand objectives.

On-Trade Business Person

Currently working within the on-trade candidates will have demonstrated and developed canny business acumen and achieved excellent results in the last year.

Marketing Awards

Best Trade Campaign

Agency or in-house advertising, PR, events, direct mail and online marketing will all be considered. The campaign will be well-planned, well-executed, have creative flair and originality.

Best Consumer Campaign

Agency or in-house. High-impact, creative and trail-blazing. This campaign will have engaged and inspired South African consumers. Based on creating brand loyalty, the campaign will be instantly recognisable and have clearly conveyed the brand message. The successful candidate will have executed a strategic plan and achieved clear results.

Best Design & Packaging

Excellence in product design, innovation or original artwork and packaging will be required in this category. Within the remit of the brief and budget, the product will be an inspiration to the wine and packaging industry.

Best Launch

Including launches and re-launches, this award will demonstrate a distinct point of difference using a variety of tools from PR events, advertising and marketing to consumer research, revived design and packaging, improved supply-chain management and increased retailer/on-trade listings.

Best Low Budget Campaign

All trade and consumer campaigns with a budget of less than R150,000 may enter this award. In a market with a plethora of small businesses and constantly shrinking budgets, this award recognises those companies that have made an impact on a shoestring.

Business Awards

Best Logistics Company

This award will recognise excellence in service for the customer (trade or consumer). This may include direct mail, internet or traditional on-trade and off-trade premises. Judges will recognise reliability, flexibility, competitiveness and the ability to meet customers needs efficiently.

Retail Award

Awarded to a retailer that has achieved significant growth in sales or wine awareness at a retail level. The retailer will have an impressive display of value and range for its customers. The winner of this award will define excellence in wine retailing in the past year. Judges will also recognise innovation.

Independent Retailer of the Year

This category recognises the exceptional service that independently owned wine retailers can offer consumers. The winner may represent one shop or be part of a group (no more than 4 outlets).

Wine Company of the Year

Outside of retailing and logistics this award is for brand owners, agents and producers. A variety of factors will be under consideration including business development and diversification, sales/profit growth, employee management, new product development, market penetration, brand development and corporate responsibility.

Export Star

Designed to recognise effective penetration of export markets. A person or company that has grown their export business, raised the awareness of their brand(s) overseas, and done so in a sustainable manner which benefits Brand South Africa.

BEE Deal of the Year

Created to recognise effective empowerment within the wine industry. Candidates may include producers, retailers or any aspect of the wider wine industry. Judges will be looking for meaningful empowerment, creativity and sales/profit.
